If you're looking for a way to speed up the operation of your personal computer, you may have overlooked what a proper defrag program can do to improve performance. If you have a large hard drive, the Windows defragger might let you down. That is where a powerful freeware defragmenter like PerfectDisk Free comes in.
If you haven't heard, SSD (or solid-state drives) are the fastest storage devices that you can install today, but an SSD should not be defragged but rather optimized. Perfect Disk Free can actually tell the difference between the two types of hard drives and performs optimizations on SSD disks instead of your typical defrag operation.
With that said, you're not normally going to have to perform optimizations on SSD drives though your classic hard disk drive might need some defragging. PerfectDisk can quickly and optimally defrag your hard drives. It will also disk some other information about your hard drive and whether it recommends a defrag.
The user interface of PerfectDisk Free is very easy to use and the main display will show you a list of the drives connected to and installed on your system, along with the default method of optimization/defragmentation (like SMARTPlacement), the time the disk was last optimized, the size and the file/free space defragmentation. Below that in the third pane you'll be able to view a visual representation of the drive and its usage along with potential fragments. The map in the PerfectDisk Free interface also displays information such as the MFT, MFT Zone, Metadata, Excluded, Free Space, Rarely Modified, Occasionally Modified, Recently Modified, Directory and Boot.
If you're looking for a freeware hard disk defragmenter or simply a program to optimize your expensive solid-state drive, we highly recommended checking this application out!
